My name is Barry Huskey, ‘aka’ Bearman and I’m the chairman of the Idaho Motorcycle Rodeo Association

My Rodeo career started in the early 90’s using my 87 FXLR that I purchased new in 1987 and was and is my daily bike. After my first competition in Weiser Idaho, I was hooked for life from that point going forward. My wife was my partner for the first 15 years until my youngest daughter took her place and teamed up with Dad in the rodeos. Her favorite event was the weenie bite which she would take first nearly everytime, as long as dad didn’t screw it up for her. My other daughter enjoys photography and took the role of our official shutterbug at all of our events.

Anyway jumping forward to July of 2016 after the Mackay Motorcycle Rodeo I heard that ABATE of eastern Idaho made the decision to not put on the rodeo anymore because they didn’t have the needed personal to continue moving forward. After questioning who, if anybody, was going to take this rodeo over and Terri said “Why don’t you do it?” I thought, yeah, why not? I hated the thought of seeing this rodeo go away. I quickly gathered a small group of my friends that have rodeoed with me for a few years that I felt had the passion for the sport as I did and we formed the Idaho Motorcycle Rodeo Association. We made it a 501C3 organization and focused on raising money for those less fortunate. We chose to give our funds to Veteran groups, local foodbanks and youth groups.

Since our Inception nine years ago I’m very proud of the team we’ve managed to assemble and dedicate their time to put on action packed, no drama rodeos that flow amazingly well, if I do say so myself. This is reiterated by the fans that give us great feedback and the popularity we’ve received since we started nine years ago and we’re very proud of the fact that we’ve been able to start a website and a facebook page while at the same time raise almost 50K for our charities and we all work our tails off when rodeo season comes around. We are a 100% volunteer organization.

I retired from competing in the rodeos back in October of 2020 when I also retired from my working career. This has also allowed me to focus more on promoting and running the three rodeos we put on each year in Idaho. I want to thank all my kids and grandkids who have been emersed in the bike rodeo world their entire lives.

I’ll end on a humerous note that I hope you find as funny as I did. My oldest grandson is 16 years old this year but when he was about 8 years old my daughter and son-in-law attended a Cowboy Rodeo. My Son-in-law notice my grandson was looking very confused looking all around and asked him what was the matter and immediately my grandson asked “Dad, where’s all the motorcycles? Lol! He didn’t even know there was such a thing as a Cowboy Rodeo.

Thanks to all of you who have supported and trusted us throughout our heart felt adventure in the bike rodeo world.

God Bless you all. Bearman
